There’s some complication with the new forum… i also encountered some..
reported problems e.g. problem registering, problem uploading pics (even it abide the settings), and can’t open sections of the forum, and it is running very slow.

I couldn’t access the Suggestion and the most important Daily Chat section, when open, its blank or get 404 . Tried it on IE, and Fireforx on 3 different computers at 3 different locations…
now finaly manage to open it using OPERA browser..... dunno if others got the same problem? posting this msg now using OPERA.

mayb some people was put off cos couldn’t open it ?

(PS: Opera browser is now FREE http://www.opera.com/ no more ad banner and no need registration, this is an alternative to IE and Firefox if anyone need to try)

UPDATE: OK.. i tested the website, had encountered no problems when i used OPERA web browser, but couldn’t open many sections and very slow using Internet Explorer or Firefox....

How come??? Could you figure this out?

Linking to every single person that lastly commented or posted their articles in Discussion.. Obviously, its only applicable for current members quota.. nvm forget about it…

did u notice that after a new user register, it will take more than half a day or a day until their details becomes visible to others… this shouldn’t normally happen, u know why?

as for the old/new forum poll.. its a hard one.. haha…
i do perfer this (new) forum, cos it provides more functionality, and will be useful if sharing photos or more serious discussion, but the complexity (more boxes, colors, etc) does make it more cluttered, difficult to track conversation, slow , etc etc disadvantage that comes with it.....

the old forum is simple and straight forward, text base (less graphics, members settings, accounts settings) does make it fast , easy for kind of near real time chit chatting sessions… and without the frames/boxes, it makes tracking conversation easier…

so........ we can’t get the best of both i guess.. pros and cons… tough decision

Hi Fei, I have tried using MAc/Firefox, a lot of 404. Never experience that with Mac/Safari, really don’t know why. Does anyone else experiencing a lot of 404 Page Not Found?

As for the simplicity of the Vanila, that was why I choose to use it at first. But Vanilla cannot integrate with the ExpressionEngine. I will try to improve the user interface of this new forum, will make it clean and simple.

This is because those members are still pending members, they have not activate their account by clicking a link in the email sent to them.

I tried to change the status to not displaying pending member, but no luck.

For this error, I can’t do anything but to report to the developer. Thanks for pointing out.

what is the diff between fast reply & post reply?
what is the ‘quote’ for? how to use?
when i submitted my fast reply, it’ll prompt me the message box as same as post reply and all typed message gone. pls guide me for the proper steps of posting. thanks.

Hi Ai Lee,

Fast Reply does not lead you to a new page to write your reply message, it is very useful if you just want type in text (no image attachment, no changing font size color etc.) and reply. Once type in the fast reply text box, DO NOT click “Post Reply”, but instead click the submit post below the text box.

Post reply will lead you to a page where you can control more features for your message, like attach image, link image, change font size & color etc.

“Quote” is for when you want to pin point the message you want to reply to.

i did click fast reply, and after typed in my message i click the ‘submit post’ button below text box. but it still lead me to the page same as when u click post reply. puzzle :O

oh, one more question, i ve tried to upload new avator but after uploaded, though message shown avator updated, but still same pic as previous one. Y?

After you type in message, click submit post, and your message not appeared on the forum? That’s strange.

All the time I just click submit post without previewing it, but never experience such a problem.
